Workshop on Skin Donation Awareness
Skin donation is a boon for Acid Attack and Burn survivors but unfortunately not many know about it and nor do we have good infrastructure in the country to facilitate smoother Skin donation. In order to create awareness on the topic Atijeevan conducted an awareness work shop in Mumbai at Indian School of Design and Innovation. This workshop was graced by eminent personalities from film industry like Mr. Manish Malhotra, Mr. Sonu Sood, Ms Jamuna Pai, Ms Rangloi Ranaut. It was also attend by Dr. Sunil Keshwani an eminent burn Doctor, Ms. Abha Singh and Deputy Mayor of Mumbai.
All attendees supported Atijeevans’ cause by discussing the issue of Skin Donation and pledged their support to create awareness about Skin Donation.
The workshop being attended by several acid attack survivors as well and they enriched themselves by attending a Skill training on Fashion Jewelry Making, which they have been employing to create a source of livelihood for themselves.
Laughter Yoga for Acid Attack Survivors
Acid attack survivors go through extreme physical and psychological trauma. While medicine and surgeries heal the physical scars but for holistic recovery, healing of mental agony is also very important. Understating this need Atijeevan has collaborated with Doctor Suchitra Kaul, a well know healing expert to provide free of cost sessions to acid and burn Survivors. Atijeevan conducted several workshops where in Doctor Suchitra conducted laughter Yoga sessions for all the Acid and Burn Survivors associated with Atijeevan. This led to a rejuvenation of very positive energy among all the participants and thus it has helped in healing them from within.
Atijeevan at Dance India Week 2017
Well known reality Dance Competition Dance India week showcased the work of Atijeevan by dedicating their Dances and Songs to Acid Attack Survivors. Acid attack survivors associated with Atijeevan showcased and sold their products at the event. It also created a lot of awareness about the issue of Acid attacks among the participants and the audience
Building Holistic Support for Women Burn Survivors
Atijeevan participated in a workshop conducted by International Foundation for Crime Prevention and Victim Care (PCVC) on March 23rd 2017 in New Delhi. This workshop was attended by Addl. Secretary (Health), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Indi and several well know plastic surgeons of the country.
Representative from Atijeevan provided valuable inputs to the event in Acid attack cases and thus got the voices of several Acid attack victims heard to the policy makers of India.
Officials from from Health Ministry assured amending rules/guidelines to enable consultation of Burns patients with any external Doctor while their treatment is going on in any of Government Institutes like Safderjung Hospital. Due to current restrictions patients undergoing Burn treatment at Government Hospital cannot avail services of Private Doctors within the premise of the Hospital.
There was also positive assurance from Government officials to look in to development of Skin Banks chains in India.
